What Should I Be – Interviews

Enlightening interviews with passionate people sharing what they do in life that brings them enjoyment and fulfillment. Our primary goal is to help young people find (within themselves) their natural interests and desires in life, and to help them figure out a way to pursue their lives with these interests in mind. Teaching young people how to not "work" for a living or get a "job" to survive. Instead, how to follow their passions and dreams and learn how to become an expert in "something" (what ever interests them the most in life) so they can do "that thing" that they love .. in order to make a living, pay for the things they need to survive as well as the things they want beyond just surviving.

After 18 months there I moved to an Assistant Underwriter position with an Underwriting Agency where I was given the opportunity to take control of their business processes and played an integral role in helping the business become profitable again ...

I work with clients that present all types of symptoms - diabetes, hypertension, weight issues, thyroid imbalances, digestive complaints, cancer, fatigue, insomnia, candidiasis, chronic pain - EVERYTHING!

Â

Sheyla Paz Hicks was born and raised in Cuba, and has been in USA since 2000. She is a self-taught TV Producer, TV host, actress, model, dancer, singer, writer, editor, entertainer and entrepreneur.

Sheyla was born in a small town in Cuba and was raised by her grandparents. At age 13, Sheyla moved to the city to continue middle school studies and and for better career opportunities. After turning 18 she graduated from Frank Pais Garcia technical school, with the title of Music Educator for Kindergarten and worked as a children’s music teacher for 3 years. In order to learn more about music and become a performer, Sheyla then moved to Havana City where she worked as a band’s Manager and Producer and was responsible for booking the band locally, nationally and internationally, as well as being responsible for the band’s make up, wardrobe, instruments, dancers, musicians as well as payroll management. She also performed as a back up singer and Guiro player.

Sheyla came to the United States in December 2000 after dating the man who would become her husband for two years. She studied piano and took voice lessons, and started writing and producing her own songs. After a couple of years working as a model and actress, Sheyla’s husband suggested that she should have her own TV show. So she started producing the SPANISH-TV show which was on air for about a year and a half on Public Access Television in Nashville, until the show was accepted to be aired on the TELEMUNDO Nashville network. Mrs. Hicks was the Executive Producer and host of the show until it ended in December of 2010.

The list of people that have been interviewed by Sheyla Paz Hicks covers the full spectrum–musicians, singers, actors, dancers, politicians, entrepreneurs to personalities. (José Feliciano, Oscar De La Renta, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Major Karl Dean, Governor Phil Bredesen, Director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritú, Oscar De Leon, GMA’s Robin Robert, La Banda El Recodo and others.)

Mrs. Hicks owns Paz Communications Inc., a production company. She was a collaborator of the bilingual news magazine 4U TN News, providing photographs and bilingual articles; and has covered the first American Country Awards and launched her second TV show, “Entertainment Circle” early in 2011. More recently, Sheyla covered the Academy Awards “Oscars®” from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Nashville, and the CMA Music Festival.

Â

Cameron Tilbury (Director/Owner of MapleStar Music & Media, Nashville TN)

Cameron Tilbury studied at McMaster University and Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada before starting his professional career at 820 CHAM; at the time, Canada’s number-1 country radio station. He worked there in a number of roles; operating top-40 countdown tapes, afternoon traffic reporter, all-night announcer, and promotions assistant. After a short time there, he then worked at KX96 FM, east of Toronto—first as announcer, then as copywriter/Creative Director. Eleven years later, he was lured to that station’s local competitor, Magic 94.9 FM, to be their head copywriter. It wasn’t long before he was lured to the Toronto market to join the copy-writing team at Corus Radio Toronto, a group of four radio stations. Cameron was then hired by Toronto competitors, Rogers Radio Toronto, another cluster of four radio stations. His copywriting won several local, national and international awards in Canada.

Tilbury relocated to England in late 2001, and worked as a Creative Director/copywriter/brand strategist at advertising agencies in Maidstone in Kent, Nottingham, and then Peterborough in Cambridgeshire before making the move to London to join the in-house creative team for Betfair, an international gaming company. It was after two years at Betfair that he founded Cameron Tilbury Publicity, which helped independent country music artists get airplay on radio stations in Ireland, UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

In 2011, Cameron Tilbury relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. He met and married songwriter Jo-Leah Gray, and evolved the company into MapleStar Music & Media, a full-service international publicity/management company. The company now handles singers/bands in country and rock, tv personalities/actors, and one of the world’s top rock photographers. MapleStar Music & Media also does artist management, artist development, producing, and much more. Clients are based in Canada, the USA and United Kingdom. The company’s main office is in Nashville, Tennessee, with offices opening in Canada and England soon.

Sheila has a wonderful story that she tells about how she came to the United States in 2000 and shortly thereafter, began studying the piano and taking voice lessons, and within just a couple years, she took a shot and pursued working as a model and actress. She "took the bull by the horns" (as I like to say) and went off into various, yet specific directions, but all within the field of entertainment (if you had to categorize it under one umbrella). Her story is very uplifting and will give you a great understanding of the potential that lies within us all, if you just look at what you have (within you) and keep moving in a direction that allows you to use and implement the things you love most and keep learning more and more .. so you can keep improving and growing.

Earlier in his career, Larry Oskin was also Director of Marketing for Circle Fine Art, which was respected as the world’s largest fine art publisher and private art gallery chain, where he provided marketing for Peter Max, Erté, Agam, Rockwell, Neiman, Mouley, Hoffman, Calder, Walt Disney Studios and many internationally respected artists. Larry Oskin launched Art Beautique, dedicated to celebrating inspirations of beauty. Larry Oskin notes, “My Art Beautique work is very stylized as abstract photo impressionism. I believe that photography remains one of our best artistic forms of creative media and visual expression. Through the fine art of photography, we are able to share what we can see, sense and feel, yet not touch!” The Art Beautique collection celebrates the beauty of women, glamour, nature, flowers, animals, cityscapes, world capitals, the Washington, DC monuments and Judaica art.</itunes:summary>

Â

As a board-certified Family Physician, Dr. Seretis is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Medical Society of New Jersey and the Gloucester County Medical Society.

Dr. Seretis served as a community outpatient preceptor at the Christiana Care Family Medicine Residency for the past 6 years, where he was awarded “Outstanding Preceptor” in 2004. His present teaching affiliations include: associate outpatient clinical professor, Thomas Jefferson University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Seretis lives and is active in his hometown community of Woolwich Township. His wife has a Masters degree in Physical Therapy and provides care for Gloucester County residents and they have three young children.

During our interview, Dr. Seretis took us from his early years, while working as a bus boy at local restaurants. Â He was the first one in his family to ever go to college, and to top that off, he went on to graduate from medical school and ... well .. the rest is history.

His story was fascinating and enlightening beyond what I had expected. We discussed everything from his educational journey through high school to his years during his undergraduate studies at college, and then onto Medical School and beyond.  We talked about the cost of Medical School, the challenges of paying the loans off, starting his own practice (and what it takes to be not only be a doctor ... but the owner of your own business). Yes, he is a "business owner" as well as a doctor.

If you're considering becoming a doctor, his story will provide you with a wealth of useful and beneficial information.

Dr. Rosen, realized early on in his teenage years that working in the field of medicine was something of great interest to him. But as we learn at the very end, one of the primary reasons he chose to become a dentist, as opposed to a traditional medical doctor or surgeon, was simply that although he loves the field of medicine, dealing with life or death medical situations made him uneasy and I can certainly understand his concern. Dr. Rosen loves helping people and working as a dentist allows him to do this every day.

When Antonie was in school, he did well academically but he wasn't sure what he wanted to be when he got older. He had some ideas of becoming an attorney, studying medicine, etc. but never had his head set on it. In just a short time, through his efforts, he created "Tribulant Software" which is a software development company which specializes in premium WordPress plugins. His company develops, markets, sells and supports useful and purposeful WordPress plugins to the community of WordPress users. If you are interested in programming and the thought of developing software (such as Wordpress plugins) for use by website developers and website builders, you too can start your own company. Listen to Antonie Potgieter of Tribulant talk about how he began with very little capital and all within a relatively short period of time.
