Despite what the bodybuilding magazines tell you, the primary driver of muscle growth is progressive overload. It’s not muscle confusion or time under tension or muscle soreness or metabolic conditioning or anything else.

Progressive overload means increasing tension levels in muscle fiber over time and the best way to do that is to add weight to the bar. If you are not gradually adding weight to the bar over time (assuming you are working in the same rep range) then you are definitely not building muscle at an optimal rate.

How do you balance protein and carbs as a vegan? That's a question that we receive often. And it's a fair question! Most protein-packed plant foods also tend to be high in either carbs or fat. For example, tofu is packed with high-quality plant protein, but it's also high in fat. Lentils are packed with high-quality plant protein, but they also contain lots of carbs. This can make it difficult to balance your macros, especially when you are working to shred fat.So in this week's episode of The Vegan Gym Podcast, my brother and I will teach you how to get all the protein you need while balancing your carb and fat intake!

Over the past year, I've committed to my ideal morning workout routine. And recommitted. And recommitted again. I've lost count of how many times I've had to "get back at it."

I'll make it a few days, then miss a day, then make it a few more days, then miss another day. This loop of constantly stopping and starting has been draining my energy and commitment.

Well, this past weekend I had a major epiphany. It's a super simple idea, but I can already tell that it's going to be a gamechanger.

If you struggle to maintain consistency in your health and fitness, you won't want to miss this week's episode of The Vegan Gym Podcast. I'll explain my new strategy, which I think you'll find to be super valuable.

But you can’t.

When you are truly committed to something, you’ll do whatever it takes no matter what. People who achieve their ideal bodies and health keep their commitments regardless of convenience.

The people who achieve success in fitness are the people who get up and make it happen. They look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, then they make them. They don’t make excuses. The word “can’t” doesn’t exist in their vocabulary.

Stop saying “I can’t.” You CAN. You just chose not to.

That’s a REALLY important distinction. And honestly, it's often a hard pill to swallow.

I’m not saying that it’s easy. It’s usually the exact opposite. It’s typically really, really tough. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. You can and you will.

I'm never going to let limiting beliefs and excuses hold me back from doing something that really matters to me. Something that I know will push me out of my comfort zone and force me to grow into the man I want to become.

I call this mentality "commit NOW and figure the rest out later!" It's a concept that I learned from a well-known entrepreneur named Grant Cardone.

And this is exactly what we'll be talking about in today's podcast. My brother Anders and I both open up about our personal lives, struggles, and ambitions. I think this is hands-down the best podcast we've done so far. I hope you agree.

We're also launching a giveaway for our BRAND NEW vegan fitness apparel that launches next week. To enter the giveaway, submit a review for the podcast wherever you are listening, screenshot your review BEFORE YOU SUBMIT IT, and send us the screenshot via Instagram or email it to Anders: anders@thevegangym.com.

Based on research from the International Journal of Sports Medicine, you can expect to gain muscle 3 to 15 times faster using steroids than you can naturally. But at what cost?

Steroids cause kidney problems or failure, liver damage, life-threatening cardiovascular complications, wreak havoc on your endocrine system, and much, much more.

So my goal in for this podcast episode is simple. I want to educate you on steroids and provide a science-based argument for why you should never take them.

We’ll discuss what exactly steroids are, how they work, and how they affect your body and health. We’ll also discuss other performance-enhancing drugs like SARMs.

Seriously, I was a STICK.I just weighed myself this morning at 194 pounds (87kg)... 64 pounds (29kg) HEAVIER than I was 10 years ago. And guess what? It’s almost entirely muscle. When I first started getting into fitness, I honestly didn't think there was any way that I could build muscle. I really struggled.

So in this episode of The Vegan Gym Podcast, my brother Anders and I will explain the 3 REASONS that vegans struggle to build muscle.

A high-protein diet is absolutely vital for building muscle, gaining strength, and getting ripped. But when it comes to protein, QUANTITY is only half of the equation. The other half is protein QUALITY. Most people talk about protein in terms of quantity, but I would argue that vegan protein quality is equally important.

And here's why...

The protein found in plant foods all have different "qualities." “High quality” versus “low quality” proteins are terms generally used to distinguish the relative proportions of the different essential amino acids found in certain foods. The more closely the proportion matches our own proteins, the higher its “quality.”

In this episode of The Vegan Gym Podcast, we'll discuss the TRUTH about vegan protein quality.
