John Cassara began his 26-year U.S. government career as a CIA Case Officer during the Cold War. He later served as a Treasury Special Agent in both the U.S. Secret Service and US Customs Service where he investigated money laundering, trade fraud and international smuggling. He was an undercover arms dealer for two years. Assigned overseas, he developed expertise in Middle East money laundering, value transfer and underground financial systems. Since his retirement, he has lectured in the United States and around the world on a variety transnational crime issues. He has been a consultant for government and industry and has testified as an expert witness before Congressional committees. He is on the Board of Directors of Global Financial Integrity and the International Coalition Against Illicit Economies. He is a fellow at George Mason University’s Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Center (TraCCC). Mr. Cassara has authored many articles and six books, his most recent being China Specified Unlawful Activities: CCP Inc., Transnational Crime and Money Laundering.

As a Principal, Forensic, Litigation, and Valuation Practice Leader. Matt brings nearly 20 years of experience to the Windham Brannon's Forensics, Litigation and Valuation Team. Most of his cases involve some form of litigation, including valuations for marital dissolution purposes, lost earnings and lost profits calculations, wrongful termination or death cases, co-mingled funds, personal injury analysis, and economic damages. His client base is just a broad as his experience, having worked on cases involving local, small-owned businesses to global multi-billion-dollar corporations. Matt has spent time in the courtroom as an expert witness, testifying on the results of his findings.

Matt is an adjunct finance professor at John Brown University and Bryan College. He sits on the Executive Advisory Board and is a liaison to the Ethics Oversight Board for the National Association of Certified Valuators & Analysts (NACVA). He served on its Litigation Forensics Board from 2014-2016 and has served as a liaison to NACVA’s Valuation Credentialing Board.

Matt is a frequent speaker on various topics related to business valuation and litigation support services, having traveled as far as Tanzania in East Africa to present to business executives. Matt earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Dan is the Founder and President of Houston Financial Forensics, LLC, and Dan T. Ramey, CPA, LLC. His professional certifications include CPA/CFF/CITP/ABV, CFE, CVA, CIA/CRMA, CISA/CISM, and CMA. He is a past President of the Houston Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and formerly a member of the Board of Governors. Dan previously served as Chairman of the Houston CPA Society's Forensic and Valuation Committee and served two terms as the Treasurer of the Houston Chapter of InfraGard. Dan is also an adjunct professor at the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University – Accounting and Business Law Department and the C. T. Bauer School of Business – Accounting Department at the University of Houston, where he currently teaches Forensic Accounting and previously taught Enterprise Risk Management. Both courses are graduate level in the Masters of Accountancy programs.

Chris Ekimoff, CPA/CFF, CFE is a Director in the Financial Investigations & Dispute Services practice of RSM US LLP and leads the firm’s practice in this practice area in the Southeast Region. Chris has significant experience providing litigation consulting and forensic accounting services—including as an expert witness on behalf of his clients—performing internal investigations, applying and evaluating financial reporting methods, responding to allegations of accounting and auditing malpractice, asset tracing engagements, and other complex financial and accounting issues. Jessica Yohe CPA, CFE

Jessica Yohe has worked in public accounting since September 2016 after earning her Master of Accounting and Bachelor of business administration degrees from Kennesaw State University. She is a manager in Audit and Assurance and works closely with clients in the captive insurance, distribution, manufacturing and telecom industries providing audit and attestation services.

Jessica’s work with her clients ignited a passion for forensic accounting and white-collar fraud prevention. In 2019, she became a Certified Fraud Examiner and is now a resource to clients that want to prevent, detect or investigate fraud. Jessica focuses on helping companies mitigate fraud by putting internal controls and proactive strategies in place.

Robert Fried is a seasoned expert and industry thought leader with over 20 years of experience in data collection and forensic investigations. As Senior Vice President and Global Head of Sandline’s Forensics and Investigations practice, he leads day-to-day operations and oversees the forensic services offered to clients, including data collection, forensic analysis, expert testimony, and forensic consultation. Previously, he has held senior-level positions in digital forensic practices at global professional services firms and worked as a computer crime specialist at the National White Collar Crime Center. He has developed and instructed computer forensics and investigative training courses for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Robert holds a BS and MS in Forensic Science and certificates in Law Enforcement Science, Computer Forensic Investigation, and Information Protection and Security from the University of New Haven. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Master’s in Investigations program at the University of New Haven and the Global Advisory Board for EC-Council’s Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (C|HFI) certification. Robert is a licensed professional investigator in Michigan and a licensed private investigator in New York. He is a frequent speaker at industry events, has been a guest on industry podcasts, and has been published in several professional publications. He has also authored the book Forensic Data Collections 2.0: The Guide for Defensible & Efficient Processes and contributes to PI Magazine, where he created the CyberSleuthing department and shares insightful content on topics relating to digital forensics, eDiscovery, data privacy, and cybersecurity.

The Investigation Game is back! In this episode, Leah talks with Retired DEA Special Agents Steve Murphy and Javier Pena, whose real-life story inspired the hit Netflix series NARCOS. Retired DEA Special Agents Steve Murphy and Javier Pena were at the center of the largest, most complex, multi-national, high-profile investigation of its time. Working with an elite Colombian Task Force, Murphy and Pena were responsible for the downfall and capture of the world’s first narco-terrorist, the infamous drug cartel leader, Pablo Escobar, following his brutal reign as head of the Medellin Cartel in the 1980s and early 1990s. Living and working alongside their Colombian national police counterparts in Columbia and with the elite US military units, their efforts resulted in the dismantlement of the largest and most violent international drug trafficking organization of its time. US and international law enforcement continue to utilize many of the strategies and innovative ideas created and implemented by Steve and Javier. In addition to their individual efforts, Steve and Javier are the founders of DEA Narcos, LLC and Co-host the Game of Crimes Podcast.

PRETEND is a story-driven show about real people pretending to be someone who they're not. The podcast features interviews with con artists, snake oil salesmen, and undercover agents—anyone living a lie.

His investigative podcast career has taken him to some wild places. Javier reported from inside a cult, which is the basis for this film. During his reporting, the host inadvertently became part of the story. He's also interviewed a woman who sells bleach as a form of medication. And his reporting exposed a prank ring responsible for thousands of dollars in damages.

Javier worked 15 years in television, producing documentaries, news, and commercials. Most recently, he's worked as a creative director at various marketing agencies. Regardless of the medium, his passion is storytelling.

For more than 50 years, Tulsa private investigator Gary Glanz has been solving major crimes, locating missing people, recovering tens of millions of dollars in cash and other valuable materials and securing priceless art collections—all with a flair, and a sense of professionalism and discretion that have earned him an international reputation.

Originally making a name for himself as one of the youngest detectives in the history of the Tulsa Police Department, where he received numerous awards and citations, Glanz left the police department in 1967 to establish his own private investigative firm. Gary Glanz continues to produce results to this day, often in situations where law enforcement authorities or other private investigators have failed. His ability to solve the tough cases brought him to the attention of the Wall Street Journal. A reporter from the newspaper accompanied him when Glanz solved a restaurant burglary, apprehended the three suspects and recovered the money from a Florida swamp where it had been buried. The front-page profile article sealed Glanz’s reputation as one of the nation’s top investigators.

Matt Davis is a career investigator who has handled all types of investigations, from charges of DUI to Homicide, as well as numerous civil actions of Personal Injury on behalf of the Plaintiff. He began his career in investigations as a Medicolegal Death Investigator for the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, during which he conducted nearly 400 scene investigations and was in attendance for hundreds of forensic autopsies. Beginning in late 2014, Matt began contracting with private citizens and local attorneys. Today, he consults with and performs case analyses for various attorneys in Oklahoma and is a salaried investigator with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System where he was the 2019 Director's Award recipient for Outstanding Non-Capital Trial Investigator.

Matt has completed numerous hours of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recognized training in DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST). He provides DUI attorneys with a detailed analysis of all available reports and videos and he has also met the statutory requirement needed to testify in court as an expert in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. In addition to the work Matt performs on DUI cases, he also conducts extensive case analyses into wrongful death and personal injury matters. Matt is one of the only private case analysts, in Oklahoma, who is also a past Diplomate of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.

Matt has developed and currently teaches an eight-hour training course on the basics of conducting a death investigation which has been accepted and cataloged by CLEET for eight hours of continuing education. Matt is an avid Chicago Cubs fan, a mediocre golfer, and enjoys spending time with his wife, two kids, and labradoodle.

He also provided financial expertise to non-financial investigations, including multiple murder investigations, human trafficking, narcotics, and missing persons. He has testified in several trials and grand juries.
