OK… its no secret that star wars is my wheelhouse. My groove (even though I SUCK at dancing). My Jam! My Babe Ruth’s called shot! My Michael Jordan’s “Nuthin’ but Net”. My double weapon specialization. Unfortunately there’s the universal truth that star wars fans cannot agree on anything. Not which of the movies is best. Not that Luke and Leah kissing was right or wrong. Not even how wrong… just plain WRONG… Jar Jar binks is and that he is a pox on the entire Star Wars universe on should never have existed! So I knew that The Mandalorian was going to have its work cut out for it.

Having said all that… I was still guardedly optimistic about the release of “The Mandalorian”. I mean… Jon Favreau DID start the MCU off with Iron Man. Dave Filoni WAS involved in ALL of the Clone Wars cartoon. Disney has been amazingly good at throwing oodles of cash at worthy projects. Still… guarded… very guardedly optimistic.

And then… episode 1, “The Client” came out. I could barely contain my eagerness! OK.. to be fair… I couldn’t.. and didn’t. I watched it at 4am… and then again at 5am… I made Sandy watch it on the way to work on my phone. I insisted that all my nerdy friends watch it IMIDIATELY… if not sooner! WHYYYY? Because the Star Wars universe had finally come out with something I knew was great… nay… EPIC!

Even more shockingly… ALL THE STAR WARS NERD UNIVERSALLY LOVED IT! I’m soo happy right now! Even better… our little podcast is going to talk about all thinks Mandalorian! I’m in nerdvana! So, lets get to it! How far did this opening series make your lightsaber go up? A little? Halfway? FULLY EXTENDED? Somebody start before I cant contain myself!

Every single one of us… regardless of age, gender, nationality, or even nerd status, have all at one time or another lost ourselves in a Disney created fantasy. I think that emotional reach of Disney’s storytelling is sometimes underestimated or forgotten. Now.. bringing this full circle… as in the circle of life… The live action remake of the Lion king just came out and the anger and betrayal of Scar throwing Mufasa to his death is just as devastating now as when it was made as an animated movie. So I thought it would be fun to go down the nerdy Alice in wonderland rabbit hole and dialogue about how Disney influences our nerddom!

Whether it's Cap’n Crunch, Captain Planet, Captain America, Captain "tight pants" Reynolds or even Captain Morgan, we have all had a captain in our lives. This week we find out which captain is best and why the FCC doesn’t allow drinking on the air!

Any self-respecting nerd has had visions of wielding a spectacular sword in an epic battle and cutting down foe after foe. Connan the barbarian, Beatrix Kiddo, Luke Skywalker, Aragon, Maximus, William Wallace, Shu Lein and even the Dread Pirate Wesley (whom you could easily defeat left handed) would pale next to your swordpersonship. The only thing you need is that spectacular sword… what sword are you going to choose?

There has always been a need for an ally, a trusted companion, someone or something that no matter how dire the circumstance, no matter what the odds, and under no circumstance would ever falter. I’m of course talking about the vaunted sidekick. Without these characters, heroes would be boring, humorless and probably.. dead! What WE are going to do is talk about our favorite sidekicks and try to convince each other why our side kick is best!
