The objective of this podcast is to delve into successful collaboration methods between Physician Assistants (PAs) and supervising physicians. The goal is to improve patient care, increase job satisfaction, and reduce burnout. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to:

• Discuss different collaborative strategies between PAs and physicians in an outpatient dermatology environment.
• Detail approaches to address complex patient cases through effective collaboration.

Learn the basic mechanism of laser technology and ways in which to utilize the correct laser to treat common dermatologic concerns. Highlights of this program include explanations of:

• The basics of laser technology.
• The use of lasers to treat vascular lesions.
• The use of lasers to treat pigmented lesions.
• The use of lasers in the treatment of scarring and addressing skin texture.

David Altman, MD, FAAD, provides an overview of the diagnosis and management of some of the less famous, but still important cutaneous malignancies such as Merkel cell carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma and microcystic adnexal carcinoma, all of which a dermatological provider must be familiar. He also reviews some of the more common non-mycosis fungoides cutaneous lymphomas as well as some patterns of metastatic disease. After listening to the Deeper Dialogue, attendees will be able to:

• Identify a diagnosis and provide treatment recommendations for less common actinic-induced malignancies such as microcystic adnexal carcinoma and atypical fibroxanthoma.
• Identify a diagnosis and management of increasingly more common Merkel cell carcinoma.
• Identify a diagnosis and management of some mesenchymal tumors that arise in the skin such as dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
• Recognize some patterns of metastatic malignancies to the skin.

In this lecture, Cory Rubin, MD, FAAD, addresses the evaluation and treatment of hyperhidrosis. He reviews information Derm PAs need to know and how they can apply best practices to make a real difference in patient care. Listeners will learn:

• The basic pathophysiology of primary hyperhidrosis.
• A clinical evaluation of hyperhidrosis.
• Differential diagnosis (secondary hyperhidrosis) and work-up.
• An explanation of hyperhidrosis treatments: past, current, and future.

This lecture serves as a review and instructional tool for improving providers’ understanding of coding. The goal is to identify and improve coding for ethical and correct collections as well as reduction of coding errors. In the lecture, Jason Roddick, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, will:

• Explain criteria E/M coding changes implemented as of January 2021.
• Discuss the implementation of modifiers for multiple services codes for dermatology billing. He explains the difference between intermediate and complex closure coding.
• Identify specific codes for procedures that often have collection difficulties when performed by physician assistants.
