Reminiscing about their 2009 duet "You Are The Only One" Candy and Charlie talk about reuniting on a new version of Dan Fogelberg's "Longer."

Perhaps the most poignant part of this interview happens toward the end when Candy shares something her father told her: "You know, Candace, they are not going to write she was a great radio girl on your grave."  It's at that point that Candy asks Charlie if he has any regrets about his own career decisions.

Says Charlie "I wouldn't change a thing. My wife and I have 3 kids, 7 grandchildren and a puppy. Life is good."

In the premiere episode of Songs & Stories with Candy O’Terry, legendary Boston arts and entertainment critic and multiple Emmy Award winner Joyce Kulhawik joyceschoices.com joins her longtime friend, radio Hall of Famer and recording artist Candy O, for a revealing conversation about life, music, gratitude, and the moments that change everything.

From climbing the ladder in broadcasting to their unforgettable days judging the iconic Community Auditions talent show, Joyce uses her interview chops to dig into the highs and lows of Candy’s life. In this episode, Candy shares the terrifying story of her daughter Colleen’s near fatal car accident, the meaning behind some of the 18 songs she has recorded, and the remarkable World War II helmet that saved her father’s life.

With four cancer diagnoses between them, these two women understand how precious life is. This conversation is filled with laughter, hard-earned wisdom, and gratitude for the people and experiences that have shaped their lives.

And woven through it all is the influence of Candy’s father, whose unwavering belief in his daughter helped her find the courage to believe in herself.

It’s the kind of conversation only old friends can have.
